Crazy Trip, Tired People

Well, we just got back from our first trip to Alaska. Our next trip is when we call Alaska 'home'. It was a great time. We left on Thursday and spent all day traveling. We got back today, Sunday, after another long day of traveling. It was a whirlwind weekend, but we did have lots of fun. We ate moose and salmon for the first time, Kennan got a job, we know where we are living, and we saw some Alaskan beauty. Not bad for 2 1/2 days!

This is a picture of something we will have to get used to - crazy light/dark. Note the time on the watch: 10:46 PM. On May 8, 2009. And it was light at 5 am. On May 8. Wierd. That will be an adjustment for someone who likes to sleep with things as dark as possible!

We took Saturday and took a day trip to Homer, AK which is about 90 minutes from Soldotna, AK. There are beautiful mountains, great beaches, good food, you get the picture. The creation in Alaska is beautiful. The buildings...not so much.

This is the closest I have ever been to a bald eagle. At one point, we were maybe 6 feet away standing at the bottom of this gazebo. Then the eagle flew right over Kennan's head.

And, the happy couple, trying to take a good picture in Alaska for their prayer and support letter that is going out soon! :) We had lots of fun. It is good that Kennan has long arms.

The trip was insanely fast, but we came home with the things accomplished that were necessary: employment of the doctor who lives in this house. And we know what route to take to get to Alaska, which is also a good thing. And Kennan liked the fish. And the people were fun. And the prices at the grocery store were similar to Chicago when everyone told us it would be a shocker - it definitely won't be, which is good for the pocketbook. And now, back to the final papers. In 2 weeks I'll have a Masters of Divinity - CRAZY!!
