24 Hours of Wonder

Well, it is no secret, the last few weeks have been hard. And sometimes, when life is just rough a person needs something great to happen. Something wonderful. Something magnificent.

Except that life doesn't typically work out that way. This time it did.

After almost 3 years of living in Alaska (by the way - how did that happen?) we saw the northern lights. Last year we saw a green streak, but this was the whole kahuna. Red, green, purple, white. They danced across the sky. To say that we were in awe, that we were excited, that we were amazed would be a severe understatement. Pictures don't do it justice, but for all those south of Canada, here's a small feast for the eyes.

This is me about a block from our house with a thumbs up. It is approximately 11:45pm. Tired, cold, exhilarated.
 Yeah. WOW.
This is the red, white turned out orange on the camera. We literally felt like we were watching the particles dance across space.
We stayed up until 4:00am. The forecast tonight is even better. Caffeine anyone? Sugar, maybe?

A picture of the full moon, the sparkling snow, and the mountains. Hearing the waves roll in at night was really phenomenal.
Then there was today. The sky was crystal clear and the sun was shining. These are two facts that have not been true very often of late. Since we didn't have to work, we played. Well...we slept in. Then we played.

Here we are, being dorks, waving at our shadows.
Sunshine, mountains, waves. Can life be better than that?
We both got hit by seawater that snuck up on us. Whoops.
 Bluebird sky.
I'm off for caffeine and a sauna with some friends. Hoping to see more lights.

Life is pretty spectacular isn't it? You never know what you're going to get.
