Around Homer

Some pictures from our weekend doing things around Homer.

In Anchor Point at the beach a tractor pushes boats into the water and pulls them out. The whole process is fascinating. Tractors just don't get used like this in Iowa.

If you look closely you can see Mt. Illiamna behind us in this photo. 

This is it, closer up. I think it is a gorgeous active volcano. It is my favorite mountain I have seen in Alaska.

Walking on the Homestead Trail in Homer. Again, this picture is the story of my life.

We scared a porcupine on our hike and he or she climbed up this tree. I have never seen a porcupine in a situation where I wasn't going to hit it, so this was fun. Isn't it cute? 

Top of the Homestead Trail. Finally green!

Mt. Augustine, another volcano across Cook Inlet. There are 5 of them in a line, actually. It last blew in 2005.

Wildflowers along the bike trail down on the spit. We saw orcas out there today while we were biking!

The days are getting harder. We think we *may* have found a place to live, which will cut down on the stress considerably. So many things to think about.
